filesthing ("we", "us", "our") is a free online file conversion service available at filesthing.com. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Files You Upload

• Files are processed in memory (or via temporary disk for audio/video) and immediately returned to you.
• We never store, log, or share your uploaded files.
• Temporary files created during conversion are deleted as soon as the response is sent.
• No file content is used for analytics, training, or any other purpose.

Data We Collect

We collect minimal data to operate the service:

• IP address — used solely for rate limiting to prevent abuse. IP addresses are stored temporarily in Redis and automatically expire.
• Basic request metadata — HTTP method, URL path, and status code may appear in server logs for debugging. These logs do not contain file content.

Cookies & Third-Party Services

filesthing itself does not set cookies. However, if Google AdSense is enabled on the site, Google may set cookies for ad personalisation and measurement. You can manage your ad preferences at Google Ad Settings.

No Account Required

filesthing does not have user accounts, login systems, or registration. We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.

Data Retention

Rate-limiting records expire automatically within minutes. Server logs are retained for up to 30 days for operational purposes and then deleted. No user files are retained at any point.

Your Rights

Children's Privacy

filesthing is a general-purpose file conversion tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The service does not require any personal data to use.
